Cute as a button...

I just love buttons and have jars of them.
A friend gave me a wonderful button necklace, and my wheels just started spinning.
Could I do something useful with my 1,000's of buttons?
That is when the idea of a needle threader came to mind.
It is like a jigsaw puzzle, sorting and stacking, finding just the right ones...
Aren't these cute!
I had a lot of fun doing them.
This is just the start, I think I will do fobs next!

A few of our favorite things....

Aren't these WONDERFUL! Our customers at open house sure thought so.

They sold like crazy!

The are called "Pretty Little Things", I think the name fits them perfectly. Where did they find such cute antique things! Those girls really have a knack.

Each pincushion is finish flawlessly, and adorned with 3 jeweled pins.

Soooo reasonable, ranging from $6.00 to $13.00 dollars.

This is a picture before the cabinet was almost bare....

I had a hard time keeping my hands out of the cabinet.

They ALL wanted to come home with me!

Right now, as I am typing this, I am wearing my tape measure bracelets.

I had to take some home. Now choosing colors was hard. I would like one in every color.

Something else that I will be sporting this winter....my tape measure bag.
I will use mine as a purse. So cute with a crisp white shirt.
Beautiful new scissors. Tiny sharp points and large enough finger holes.
Affordable to, just $20.00 a pair.

The finishing on this Lizzie Kate snowman was a hit. We put together kits, complete with everything but the thread. We have just a few left if you need one.

Sort of springish, but oh so cute. fluffy, stuffy, felt tape measures.
Joy loves bling! Anything that sparkles. We have pens, tape measures and nail files for the girls that like to sparkle!

To round out the table, we even had a few small gift items that would be perfect for a neighbor,
a teacher or your babysitter.

Wool Pumpkins

These couldn't be easier! It just took forever for me to sit down and make them...
They are made from Weeks Dye Works wool fabric cut into 2 circles. You can make your circles any size you like. Then just Stitch two together and fill with crushed walnut shells. I sort of soft sculptured them with perle cotton thread. Stitch right through the center with a sharp needle, coming up from the bottom to the top and around the sides of the pumpkin with each stitch. Tie off with a knot on the bottom after you get the number of ribs that you want on your pumpkin. The leaves are two layers of wool and I stitched around them with the sewing machine. Curled vine is a brown paper covered wire and the stem is a real branch. Aren't they cute! You can use them as a pincushion is you would like or just for display.

My fun new pincushion!

I think this is so sweet. A friend surprised me today at work with this little treasure. She is so talented, and each of her pincushions are unique. I can't resist them! She has a blog www.gotoprettylittlethings.blogspot.com if you want to see more. They are sold at one of my favorite local art markets. They only hold about 4 a year, and this weekend is the magical weekend! Of course I will be going!!

Wool Acorns

Blackbird design had these in their Christmas book "Joyoux Noel". We love them! We have made sooo many. People keep asking to buy them from our display. They are super simple to make. Joy lives on oak lane, so you can guess where we get our acorn caps. Then the wool felts are just odds and ends that I just happened to have, mostly Weeks Dye Works brand. Joy will gather like a little squirrel this fall and if you would like some tops just stop by the store. We'll supply all that we can.

Something to crow about...

Aren't these fun? A crow needle cushion filled with crushed walnut shells. Each feather is stitched on with a black bead. They each have their own personality, perched upon their bed of leaves. I thought they would be a fun addition to our Halloween displays at the store. But I'm sure that they will fly away soon.....

Something I did this weekend

I have had this piece stitched for a long time now. I sort of knew what I wanted to do with it, but you know how sometimes the idea just hits you.. This pattern is Blackbird Designs "Small Token: Threads of Merit Pincushion". I decided that it would be the perfect cover to a thread book! This is what I started with...

I love the bag storage idea for floss. It is our stores favorite. You can save all of the little ends that you can use to stitch a small space, no winding required and your thread stays nice and smooth because there is no friction getting it in and out of the box. We leave the whole thread line in a large photo box and only tote around the colors that we need for a project that we are currently working on. I used scrapbook paper for the covering, the bags are a type that have two holes "Bag-it" by Westex Company. I modge podged the paper covered chipboard to make it more durable. As you can see, it will hold a lot of thread, and I can put on bigger rings if I need to. I think it turned out really cute!

Pins and Fobs

I love things that sparkle. Doesn't every girl...
You may have noticed the display at the shop of scissor fobs and pins. The pins can be used to attach your pattern to your work as you stitch. Used as a counting pin. Look cute in a pin cushion or adorn a finished piece. Each is made of glass beads and metal findings. The pins are not just your everyday pin. They are extra long and have a wonderful pewter patina to them. Very vintage looking. With a fob on your scissors there is no confusion which pair are your. Our stitching table gets quite crowded, but everyone know which scissors are theirs when it is time to pack up and go home. I just love the whole display.

Dragonfly bag..

This was a busy weekend. I finished my gardens and then planted the stores beds. In the down time I beaded. If you have stitched our "Dragonfly Dreams" designed by Carolyn you will recognize this fabric . We designed it so that when it is drawn together it looks like a flower and the ties are adorned with crystal dragonflies. They are just beautiful. I think that they will go fast, and when they are gone they are gone forever....

scissor storage

I have so many pair of wonderful scissors they need to set out on display. A fun way to display them is in a flower frog. Carolyn was kind enough to give me one for my birthday this last year. I love to go on frog hunts. You usually find them in antique shops or second hand stores. Hunting them can become an obsession, and then there is the fact that you have to have the scissors to fill them. I think I can do that...
